Dear chess friends from near and far,
Hereby we invite you to our 21rst “Open Belgian Championship” 2014.
When?
This tournament will take place from Friday evening November 7 (dinner included) till Tuesday morning November 11, 2014 (breakfast included).
May we kindly request you to arrive in the hotel on the 7th before 5.30 pm? This way you will have time to settle yourself in your room because dinner will be served strictly at 6 pm so that the first round can start at 7.30 pm.
Where?
We are glad to invite you in “Hotel De Kinkhoorn” Zeedijk 330, B-8400 Oostende. Tel: +32(0)59 70 16 97, Oostende is located at the Belgian coast.
You can reach Oostende by train. Hotel De Kinkhoorn is reachable by the coast tram from the station of Oostende (15 minutes ride). You get down at tram stop Ravelingen. You will find the hotel opposite the tram stop.
There is swimming pool in the hotel and you have a view on the beach. In your free time, you can have a walk at the sea side, just in front of the hotel.
We chose for this location because of the very positive feedback about the hotel after the 6 countries tournament last December.
Tournament formula:
The tournament will be played over 7 rounds, according to the Swiss system.
The 7 rounds will be played on:
Friday November7 in the evening (1st);
Saturday November 8 in the morning (2nd) and afternoon (3rd);
Sunday November 9 in the morning (4th) and afternoon (5th);
Monday November 10 in the morning (6th) and afternoon (7th).
Final ceremony will take place on Monday after dinner.
Tuesday morning November 11 after breakfast; end of the tournament.

Prize to win:
There is € 300, 00 prizes. Apart from that, there is a bonus of € 2, 50 for every game you win. There will be cups for the winner of the Belgian Open Championship A and B for visually impaired, the open Belgian champion for the normal sighted, the champion of the BSFVG (visually impaired).
Player’s charges:
Those people who will stay in the hotel.
These prices are meant for all the comfort in the apartments each apartment contains 1 or 2 bedrooms (of which one of the two bedrooms contains a washbasin), a living room with TV, a small kitchen, a bathroom and a separate toilet.
Double room (apartment with 1 bedroom) € 225, 00 per person
Single room (apartment with 2 single bedrooms) € 245, 00 per person
Single room private (apartment with 1 single bedroom) € 305, 00 per person

Exceptionally, guide-dogs for blind people are allowed. This is under reservation.
Please contact Herman Jennen regarding this issue to avoid problems when you arrive at the hotel. You will find his address and phone numbers in the letter head.
How do you inscribe and pay?
You have to inscribe and pay before the September 10, 2014.
You can do that by a Bank Transfer on bank account number of ARGENTA on the name of the B.S.F.V.G., Zwijnaardesteenweg 197 at B-9000 GENT.
For international payments to Belgium you will need the following numbers:

! Attention!
1. For people who do a money transfer from abroad please note that all the bank costs are for you. Please look carefully doing the transaction, so that we get the right amount of money. Otherwise we will ask the missing part during the tournament.
2. People shall be registered only after full payment has been made. Rooms shall be given once registration has been done.
3. People who are registered, but don’t show up will be charged 30 % of the annulations fee.
4. Please respect the deadline of registration date STRICTLY. Our reservation in the hotel is based on this date and will be cancelled then. After September 10, we can’t guarantee that we still have free rooms and/or for the same price.
